Northeast Corner (Ft. Bidwell)
The North East Corner (Fort Bidwell)
As seen in:
Huell passes through the tiny town of Fort Bidwell where my Uncle happens to live in our family's historic ranch house in remote Modoc County. As Huell says "What in the world is up here?". Here are some photographs from previous family trips to the Northeast Corner of our state.
Although Huell passes through Ft. Bidwell with little fanfare he does pick up Geography Professor Steve Cunha and local couple Carol and Jane to guide him to the NE Corner. Carol and Jane warn Huell to get out of here before dark to avoid the mountain lions and rattlesnakes. Side note I had the pleasure of having dinner at our family ranch house with Jane years later.
The Ranch House which was originally designed for a California Senator, Boyd Peterson and was eventually given to my Grandparents as a wedding gift by my Great Grandfather J.P. McAuliffe
The fields are still watered by setting dams to flood alternate pastures. The pastures are then allowed to grow grass while the cattle are fed in other pastures. This sort of Gravity Irrigation has been employed for over 100 years at this particular ranch.
Looking northeast towards the path Huell and the others hiked to "near" the NE corner.

Mojave Airport and Tehachapi
Tehachapi and The Mojave Airport
Huell spent several episodes between Mojave and Tehachapi. Below you will see pictures of the railroad crossing signals from
Tehachapi- Road Trip with Huell Howser (104)
Which have been moved to a park near the Tehachapi rail museum.
Next we traveled to the Mojave Air and Space Port. Where we were lucky enough to see some ground breaking air and space craft. Below are pictures of Virgin Galactic's Spaceship 2 and the Roton Rocket as seen in
Roton Rocket- Visiting 1102
Roton Rocket
The Air and Space Port is also home to the recently unveiled ROC or Statolaunch Which was captured via drone by my friends at Vision Pictures (full disclosure this is not a Vision Pictures still)

The Interactive Huell Howser Map
HUELL HOWSER WENT THERE!!!!!!
The best place to start when looking for locations where Huell visited has got to be this interactive Map That's Amazing Map To date this is the most comprehensive map I have found. Of course the Archives are still a great place to find and watch episodes but graphical interface of this map makes finding spots along your journey much easier.
Enjoy the map and the future blog post as I attempt to visit as many locales as possible where I can say "Huell Howser went there!"
